Genius Loci, a facade projection festival taking place in Weimar, Germany from 7-9 August 2015 will feature an immersive sound installation with an IOSONO sound system by Barco this year. Until 20 June, sound artists can apply with a sound concept for the installation, the winning artist will receive a grant of €5,000 for the implementation of the production.
The presentation of the winning submission will take place in the courtyard of the Weimar Town Castle, which is equipped with an IOSONO system for the duration of the festival. The system has a diameter of 26m and comprises 32 circularly arranged loudspeakers driven by an IOSONO CORE audio processor.
In its call for submissions, the festival is looking for artists who can meet the challenge of producing a real or virtual ‘genius loci’ for an audience using the means of sound. The result can be narrative or atmospheric, can bring a bygone era back to life, outline a possible future, or can even be a free expression of fantasy. The submission must include a project proposal as 2-3 page PDF with a short self-description. A 30-second sound sketch of the proposed project can also be included. Submissions should be sent via email to sound(at)genius-loci-weimar.org by 20.06.2015 23:59 CET. Queries about submissions can likewise be directed to this address, in German or English.
